Mzansi Draws "Spot the Ball" competitions are classified as Games of Skill under South African law. Winners are determined by their ability to correctly identify the position of a ball in an image (closest Euclidean distance to the pre-determined master coordinate).
These competitions do not involve any element of chance or random draw. As such, they are NOT classified as gambling or lotteries and do not require a gambling license.
Participants must be 18 years or older. Employees and their immediate family members of Mzansi Draws are not eligible to participate. Participants must be residents of South Africa to be eligible for entry. Proof of residency may be required.
The secret master coordinate is determined before the competition starts and is encrypted. The winner is the participant whose clicked coordinates have the smallest Euclidean distance to the master coordinate: √[(x₂-x₁)² + (y₂-y₁)²]. In the event that two or more entries are tied with the exact same closest distance, the entry submitted earliest (by date and time of entry) will be declared the winner. Winners are never determined at random.
Prizes are awarded within 7 days of competition end. Winners are notified via email and on the winners page.
If a competition closes without all available tickets being sold, the winner will still receive a cash prize. In this case, the prize awarded is calculated as a guaranteed percentage of the total revenue generated from tickets actually sold for that competition, rather than the full advertised prize value. The guaranteed percentage applicable is displayed on the relevant competition's entry page prior to purchase.
All entries are final. Points purchased are non-refundable as they are used to enter skill-based competitions.
